Use of bamboo in illegal fishing in Volta Lake (Ghana)

Fisher folk along the Volta Lake by means of survival use the bamboo sticks to set traps for catching fish.  The fisher folks put the bamboos together and form rafts with them. They serve as fish aggregating device (FADs). The bamboos trap the egg laying fishes and cuts short the reproduction cycle in the lake. Moreover, small fishes get also trapped before further growth and maturation.
