Cage fish culture in Khulekhani reservoirs (Nepal)

This cage-fish culture which is family owned was started to assist the people who were displaced by the construction of Khulekhani reservoir for the purpose of hydroelectricity generation. In the initial period of the project, the government of Nepal provided technical assistance as well as financial support to project beneficiaries. The program is still ongoing whereas only technical assistant is provided. Fish species used for in the project are Silver and Bighead carps. Cage management is represented by the continuous removal of fouling as well as the maintenance of cages. Productivity is about 6 kg/m3 of water volume after 8-9 months of growth without feeding.
