Establishment of commercial catfish and tilapia farm in Karu, Nasarawa (Nigeria)

This project proposal has been developed by a team who participated in Fish Culture Development training course in 2011. Developers recommended Kuchikau, Karu, (Nasarawa) to be the place of this project. The project proposal reviewed the status of fish production and consumption in Nigeria concluding the need for more aquaculture development in Nigeria. The team has chosen African catfish, Clarias gariepinus and Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus to be the species of choice in this project. The document covers the scope and management of the project. Also, project budget and economic indicators have been included. This project proposal has been developed according to a project assignment given by Dr. Abdel Rahman El Gamal who supervises these group projects as a part of the training course which is annually organized by the Egyptian International Centre for Agriculture (EICA).
