Fish egg fertilization (illustrated)

This single slide shows the mechanism of egg fertilization in fish and some factors that could retard or enhance fertilization. This summary shows that blood clotting that could result of improper handling of female fish during eggs can close the very tiny opening that each egg has and known by micropyle preventing any entry of sperm and hence reduces the rate of fertilization. The reason of using salt solution of 6 g/l will help turining blood (protein) clotting into solution and so micropyles remain open for fertilization by sperm.
