Harvesting of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus from Busa Dam, Ghana

This photo shows the harvesting of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus from the Busa dam with a surface area of 5.0 ha in the Wa Municipal district of the Upper West Region, Ghana, from cages. This is the first cage to be mounted in the three Northern Region under the Food Security and Environment Facility Project facilitated by the Ministry of Local Government and funded by CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency). The project was carried out by a private enterprise Zoomlion Ghana Ltd and the main object was to increase the nutritional level of the community, provide some income, it was a community project. Five cages with a total surface area of 318 m³  were mounted in this dam.
