Small-scale freshwater fish hatchery in Sierra Leone

The justification of this project proposal relied on the modest status of aquaculture (40 tons) compared to the high demand on fish in Sierra Leone. The annual production target of this project is a million tilapia fingerlings. The location of the project has been specified and so human resources. Hapa system has been the chosen system for the production of Nile tilapia fingerlings. The system design and operation are described and finally the budget and economic analysis. This project proposal has been developed by a team of trainees who participated during 2006 in Fish Culture Development training course which is annually hosted by the Egyptian International Centre for Agriculture (EICA). This project has been implemented under the supervision of Dr. Abdel Rahman El Gamal.
