This traditional method\/gear is locally named \u201cKhora jal\u201d. The photo shows the practice of setting the lift nets \u201cKhora jal\u201d in Ghagot river, Gaibandha sadar Upazila, Gaibandha District. Khora jal is one of the mostly used fishing gears in flood plain during the rainy season. This triangular net is made of mosquito net attached to its structure which is made of bamboo. This gear is commonly used in the morning and during night. The target catch of \u201ckhora jal\u201d is small indigenous species. A fishing survey showed that four species of fish were among the catch of \u201cKhora jal\u201d which are Labeo rohita, Labeo calbasu, Silonia silondia and Eutrophiichthys bacha.<\/p>\n
