The Dept. of Fisheries is mandated to enforce the Fisheries Regulations with support for state or wildlife police. The penalty for using illegal fishing nets according to Fisheries Act of 2011 if convicted faces up to 3 years imprisonment or fined 300000 penalty units \u00a0($10,000) or both. However, cases were the suspects\/culprits run away as was the case in the picture; the illegal nets are burnt on site.<\/p>\n
