The harvest was covered\nby media and attended by the minister and top officials as well as invitees\nfrom the community including a number of school children who witnessed the\nharvest. The event targeted to promote aquaculture especially in the southern\npart of Namibia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can\nsee that tilapia is the main species cultured in the farm along with some\ncommon carp. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The national\nstrategy strongly advocates for aquaculture in\nthat it empowers people, provides employment opportunities and provides food\nsecurity for communities.\n\nIt may worth noting that aquaculture in Namibia still in its infancy\nstage as according to FAO statistics, aquaculture in Namibia amounted 647, 626,\n605, 587 and 472 tons during the years from 2014 to 2018 respectively.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/z0rEOjtWBz8?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Video credit: Kaulo Salushando (Namibia) Description: Kaulo Salushando and Abdel Rahman El Gamal (Founder of the video channel) This video was filmed during an official harvesting that took place in Fonteintjie fish farm which is a governmental farm.
