Electrofishing is a fishing technique that is primarily used in freshwater to collect broodstock from lakes and reservoirs where other sampling or harvesting techniques cannot be used. The photos show electrofishing boats which represent a common means of this practice. Electrofishing is designed to operate on fish nervous system and hence leads to temporarily stunning of affected fish and so they can be easily netted as shown in the second photo.<\/p>\n

Electrofishing techniques use \u201cDirect Power\u201d (DC) which is considered less hazardous compared to \u201cAlternating Current\u201d (AC). However, faulty equipment or operations in electrofishing can result in serious injury to operators or even death.<\/p>\n
