Striping eggs from a gravid female:<\/strong> The\u00a0 stripping of the female is done under\u00a0experienced hands of the hatchery\u00a0 personnel at the Kibaru trout hatchery on the slopes of Mount Kenya, Kenya. <\/span><\/p>\n

Egg fertilization:<\/strong> The second photo shows the\u00a0 mixing of the sperm from\u00a0a male brooder with the previously stripped eggs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss<\/em>, is a cold water species that tolerates optimal tempertures of 15o Centigrade and below. Water used in the hatchery should be constantly flowing, well oxygenated\u00a0 and crystal clear.<\/span><\/p>\n
