This is stocking of the Susu dam which has a surface area of 1.0 ha in the Lawra district in the Upper West Region, Ghana. The fingerlings were taken from the Billibor dam by the fishermen in the community under the supervision of officials from the Fisheries Commission. As been established, about 5 % of all irrigable land is allocated to fisheries activities. The stocking of dams is usually done by the officials of the Fisheries Commission for the community to provide them with some protein in their diet.\u00a0 Due to the less efficiency of the existing hatchery, fishery officials have no choice but to harvest fingerlings of various quality from the already depleted stocks in the other dams.<\/span><\/p>\n
