This project proposal targets to establish a red tilapia hatchery in Buenaventura (Colombia) for the production of red tilapia\u00a0fingerlings as required by farming operations in Colombia based on current and predicted tilapia production till 2015 especially red tilapia whereas the demand for\u00a0red tilapia fingerlings has\u00a0been estimated till 2015. The specific objective of the hatchery is to produce about 1.5 million of red tilapia fry of 0.5-g average size and 365 thousand of juveniles of 50-60 g average size. All technical items of the operations have been described as well as the economic analysis. This project has been developed by a team of trainees who participated during 2010 in the annual Fish Culture Development training course which is annually hosted by the Egyptian International Centre for Agriculture. This project has been developed under the supervision of Dr. Abdel Rahman El Gamal.<\/span><\/p>\n
