This photo shows a typical pond for whiteleg shrimp,\u00a0Liptopenaeus vannamei<\/em>\u00a0in Thailand. \u00a0The pond has a surface area about 16,000 m2<\/sup> with a water depth of about 1-1.2 \u00a0m. Shrimp farmer buys the farm requirement of shrimp post larvae (Pl 12) from a shrimp hatchery whereas shrimp are grown for 80-90 days. The paddle wheel aerators shown in the photos are turned on whenever dissolved oxygen is anticipated to drop such as during evenings or rainy days.<\/span><\/p>\n
