{"id":5565,"date":"2012-09-08T18:04:48","date_gmt":"2012-09-08T15:04:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fishconsult.org\/?p=5565"},"modified":"2014-09-16T09:40:37","modified_gmt":"2014-09-16T07:40:37","slug":"salted-fish-of-lake-nassers-fish-catch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fishconsult.org\/?p=5565","title":{"rendered":"Salted fish of Lake Nasser&#8217;s fish catch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The majority of fish catch in lake Nasser belongs to about 10 species that collectively make up more than 95% of Lake Nasser catch.\u00a0\u00a0The predominant species sold as fresh fish are the tilapias and Nile perch, <em>Lates niloticus, Labeo <\/em>and <em>Bagrus, <\/em>while <em>Alestes<\/em> spp., <em>Labeo<\/em> spp., <em>Hydrocynus<\/em> spp., and <em>Eutropius niloticus<\/em> are salted. Salting takes place on the boats during fishing trips whereas 20-liter tins are used for this purpose. Fish salting for the mentioned species is done to add value to these species which enjoy better marked and consumer preference in its salted form.
