African catfish (Clarias<\/em> sp.) is considered a key farmed species in Thailand. The hybrid catfish (Clarias macrocephalus – <\/em>female\u00a0X\u00a0Clarias gariepinus – <\/em>male) has been favored for aquaculture because of it high growth rate compared to parent species. While Clarias macrocephalus <\/em>(left photo) is\u00a0\u00a0native to Southeast Asia, the Clarias gariepinus<\/em> <\/em>(right photo) was\u00a0<\/em>introduced into Thailand a long time ago.<\/span><\/p>\n
