This is a small Reservoir in the state of Meghalaya, India . The water area of the reservoir is 500 hectares and its main purpose is to generate electricity. It is situated on the North Eastern part of India and is one of the tourist spots of the state .It is about 19 kms from the capital city Shillong. Before any visitors\/tourist reach the city is welcome by this small and beautiful reservoir. Different types of fishes are available in this water body which includes the indigenous species like garra spp., loaches, channa sp, mahaseer (A. hexagonolepis), and Indian major carps i.e. Catla catla, Labeo rohita, Cirrhinus mrigala as well as exotic carps which include grass carp, silver carp and common carp etc. The main fish catch consists mostly common carp which is sold in the local markets. The water body is under the control of the local bodies\/councils but steps have been taken by the Fishery Dept. to release fish seeds in the reservoir to enhance fish stocks and so production.<\/span><\/p>\n
