Chavez (Philippines)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The practice of tilapia pen farming is being carried out by fish farmers around Laguna de Bay with a stocking density of 30,000 to 50,000 fingerlings per ha. In such practice, fish farmers grow their tilapia naturally whereas no external feeds are given. As such this practice gives several advantages; it is environment-friendly, it minimizes waste deposit at the bottom of the lake; and it is less expensive, since there is no cost related to feeds. Moreover, this system help maintains the lake\u2019s productivity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Aside from tilapia and milkfish, bighead carp is also cultured and produced in fish pens in the lake.
