Sampling of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) fingerlings in Egypt (Video)

This video shows the sampling of grass carp fingerlings in the Barrage (Kanater) Station, Egypt. This is a part of the whole program on the biological control of aquatic plants in River Nile and canals using grass carp. The Channel Maintenance Research Institute (CMRI) is in charge of this program. Sampling is routinely carried out to assess the growth rate of fingerlings and also to determine the time of release based on specified size. Other than CMRI hatcheries, grass carp fingerlings are also produced in several governmental hatcheries as required by CMRI.
