Women in ornamental fish farming in Nepal

This project proposal addresses social and economic aspects through empowering the role of fisher women in ornamental fish farming in Chitwan Valley (Nepal) as a means to reducing the migration to cities and create jobs. The strategy of this project is to nurse hatchlings of gold fish and koi carp which are produced in hatcheries and market it to potential clients. This project include technical parts, budgetary component and dissemination strategy to enable reaching more of potential fisher women. This project proposal has been developed of a team of trainees who participated in 2007 in Fish Culture Development training course which is annually hosted by the Egyptian International Centre for Agriculture (Egypt). The project proposal has been supervised by Dr. Abdel Rahman El Gamal.
