This project proposal has been developed by a group of trainees who participated in Warm Water Fish Production training course in 2009 which was hosted by the Egyptian International Centre for Agriculture (EICA). This project is a part of the training program which is carried out under the supervision of Dr. Abdel Rahman El Gamal. The team propsed the establishment of a hatchery for the production of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fingerling with a production capacity of 240000 fingerlings/year in Mpigi district in Uganda. The rationality of species selection, as well as the site of the project has been adequately addressed. The proposal has also addressed the technical aspects. Various project activities are grouped in an activity chart. The financial and economic evaluation has been addressed using key parameters such as payback period.
