The photo shows the packing and marketing of Tanganyika sardine, Limnothrissa miodon fished from Lake Kivu. The low level of fish processing and products development could be attributed to the artisanal nature of the fisheries of the lake. This species was introduced from Lake Tanganyika to Lake Kivu in 1959. L. miodon is the major catch of the lake.
