Two of the three photos show the hand grading of heads-on harvested whiteleg shrimp, Liptopenaeus vannamei. It is obvious that women contribute significantly to the grading process which takes place after cold bathing. In order to establish a common understanding in regard to shrimp grading, there is what is known by “Global Shrimp Sizing Reference Guide” that assist shrimp exporters and importers to get a definite idea about shrimp grades. As expected, the size grades vary according to the species, their market size and growth rate. The shrimp grades are  usually defined by how many pieces/kilogram.

Because the pricing of shrimp is are greatly influenced by their grades, the third photo shows the weighing of graded shrimp according to their sizes before its transportation to target markets.

Note: We decided not to watermark the photos in order not to upset its clarity. However, we trust you will notify us if you wish to use a picture or more. This is expected and will be appreciated.
