This lecture has been delivered by Dr. Abdel Rahman El Gamal during August 2016 as a contribution to the “Fish Culture Development training course – Africa” which is annually organized by the Egyptian International Centre for Agriculture (EICA) with the support by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The target groups of this lecture vary and may include farm/hatchery operators, aquaculture engineers, researchers, students and other groups or individuals interested in aquaculture.

The lecture addresses the safe handling practices and precautions throughout the key farming practice starting with stocking, acclimation then sampling and harvesting. Some special operations have been addressed in this lecture such as anesthesia, grading and marking ending by transportation. The lecture has been supported by numerous illustrations and tables whenever found necessary.
